I have never watched a single episode of Parks and Recreation, but apparently that’s where Galentine’s Day originated. It was February 11, 2010. I’m sure the writers, producers, and actors of the show had no idea that it would start a trend. Here we are – sixteen years later – still celebrating. Here’s a 85-second clip that explains it further.
Why We Love Galentine’s Day
I think women have embraced the fictional holiday because it gives us an excuse to celebrate friendships. We get to honor the girlfriends that we cherish and support. So much negativity can be part of our world. When women set aside a day (hopefully, you get to spend a lot more time than that) to empower other women, something wonderful happens. It reduces stress and improves our well-being. Mental health affects our physical and emotional health. Bottomline: Time with our girlfriends help us to age well.
Have You Celebrated Galentine’s Day
Perhaps Galentine’s Day is a new or overlooked “holiday” for you. I encourage you to jump in the fun. Why? Because you get to uplift your friends. You could celebrate in a low-key manner, or with grandiose. Here are a few ideas:
- Simply send a Galentine’s card (Yes, it’s a thing!)
- Text an inspirational or encouraging message
- Enjoy a tea/coffee date together
- Zoom or Facetime with a friend
- Enjoy a girls weekend getaway
- Take a trip to the spa together
- Enjoy a breakfast, lunch, or dinner date
Really, the ideas are endless. What’s your vibe? You can celebrate with one person or a big group. Remember, family may be “friends”, too. Perhaps, you would include your mom, daughters, sisters, or nieces in the celebration.
Of course, I couldn’t let this day get away without putting something together for you and your friends. My Galentine’s Pop-Up experience is more than a shop. It includes:
- A giveaway
- My favorite SPA ritual
- An opportunity for you to have a texting event with your Galentine’s this month
- An optional $5 JAFRA e-card
Whether you choose to celebrate Galentine’s Day through my pop-up experience or create something meaningful on your own, my hope is simple: that you feel seen, supported, and deeply connected. Friendship is a gift that nourishes the heart, eases stress, and reminds us we don’t have to walk through life alone. However you gather—near or far, big or small—may this season be a gentle reminder to pause, laugh, and celebrate the women who make life richer just by being part of it. 💜
