Lavender

Lavender is a beautifully fragranced plant that has been an essential oil for centuries. Several ancient societies such as the Egyptians and Romans have used lavender for its many uses such as aromatherapy and healing. So what are those benefits and how can we use them today? While there are countless benefits for lavender, there are some main uses that you can do today.

Aromatherapy

Infusing Lavender oils into the air or breathing it in can help you feel more relaxed and calm. This can help with issues such as insomnia, anxiety, and mild pain. Aromatherapy can also help with other mental health issues like depression.  All you need is a few drops of lavender oil in a diffuser or put a drop in your hands and breathe it in.

Eliminates skin blemishes

Lavender oil produces antibiotics that can help kill bacteria and lower inflammation.  This can help clear up skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and sun burns.

Increased healing

There is some indication that lavender can speed up the healing of skin and tissue. So it can be very helpful for small cuts and open wound injuries. There is also speculation that lavender can prevent cancer and dementia

Encourages hair growth

Lavender helps calm the nervous system and can increase the circulation in your follicles. This encourages your hair to grow, even if you have a hard time doing so. It also nourishes your hair and keeps it moisturized.

These are wonderful benefits to lavender, but how can you use it? Well there are a few different ways. Unlike some essential oils, lavender can be consumed internally, topically, and diffused.  So feel free to put a drop in your tea or rub a couple of drops on your tensed muscles for an ultimate relaxation sensation. You can also put a few drops of lavender in your bath water! However, it is important to buy organic lavender oil. Synthetic lavender can cause sickness and harm. Trusted companies like doTERRA are a great start to using lavender.
